The moment you hit 30, you need to change!

The Incident

I remember that night in August 2020 like it was yesterday. My health took a hit — my heart was racing at 148 beats per minute as I went to bed. Panicking, my dad rushed me to the hospital.

I could see the worry on my family’s faces, and I desperately wished for a solution. I promised myself that from that point on, I’d take better care of myself for my family’s sake.

On the hospital bed, surrounded by doctors in their special gear due to COVID-19, I could sense the tension my dad and wife must’ve been going through sitting and waiting outside.

The doctor checked my reports and said things looked okay, but he suggested more tests and a visit to a heart specialist. My heart rate was still high, around 100 beats per minute.

The next day, the heart specialist made me do a bunch of tests, including one where I had to run on a treadmill for 10–15 minutes. My heart rate shot up to a scary 189 beats per minute.

After hours of tests, I waited for the doctor with my heart rate stuck at 120–125 bpm. Something felt off, and I was uneasy.
