“Wednesdays with Manav” — The Driving Chapter: Part 5 (final)
Passion is the Fuel That Ignites the Flames of Purpose, Turning Ordinary Endeavours Into Extraordinary Journeys.
Only Germans know how to make an automobile; the rest are learning.
In 2010, Volkswagen launched a hot hatchback in India — POLO.
It’s been a dream car for me since then. The simple elegance and understated design are what make any German car, and Polo was no different.
My first car was a Maruti Suzuki Alto. It was an 800cc petrol engine, which was way underpowered.
I had a rich friend who owned a Maruti Suzuki Swift — 1.3L Diesel engine. It’s a DDiS engine with 75 bhp and 190Nm of torque.
Torque was the USP of the Swift. It was incredible.
When I drove my friend’s Swift, I fell in love with the power. Even the handling was good.
After that drive, I never liked my Alto and wanted to soon get a new car, my favorite being Polo.
The Breakdown
I was with my foreign clients in my Alto when it broke down; it had an overheating issue.
