“Wednesdays with Manav” — The Driving Chapter: Part 3
A Tale of a Gutsy Middle Class Boy
Me: Mummy, can I take the car? See, it’s about to rain!
Mummy: What?
Me: Car! Rain!
Mummy: [Silent and just a strong look]
Me: Okay, well, it might not rain for the next one hour. I will go by scooter only. Bye!
A fifteen-year-old middle-class boy who wants to take out his father’s priciest possession for his tuition because it might rain!
This is me. Those were my guts.
My love for the Bajaj Super started fading off. It was all because of a boy who used to come with a car to the tuition. He was not middle class.
I also got tempted to take the car to the tuition.
Till now, my mother talks about my guts of that day.
I passed tenth and came in senior secondary. I was growing. My sister was in her graduation.
She asked for a gear less scooter, and my parents agreed to that.
For a complete whole year, she didn’t let me touch her scooter.
Although, I rode it secretly. Till today she doesn’t know. [If she is reading, Surprise!]
