I Couldn’t Read Even Two Lines Before, But Now — I Couldn’t Read Only Two Lines!
“A room without books is like a body without a soul.” — Marcus Tullius Cicero
When I was recently planning the interiors for my new home, my interior designer asked where I wanted the bar area. I responded, “I don’t want a bar area; instead, give me a good reading space with storage for hundreds of books.”
I wouldn’t have expected this from myself a year ago; it would have been a vast bar area.
But, this is who I am now — A Reader!
I remember going to toy shops like Hamleys to find good gifts for my nieces. I always gave them some random toy or soft toy, which they played with for a few minutes, and then it was just added to their collection, if left in one piece.
They only experienced happiness for a few minutes, and then it was gone. I always felt that I spent more time selecting the thing for them compared to their affinity towards that thing.
Since last year, my wife and I replaced Hamleys with a bookstore. We spend time selecting books for the girls, giving them a gift that will not only be with them for the next few days, but the learnings can be game-changing and stay with them forever.
