Me and My Duke 390–Oct’2020!

I have a KTM Duke 390, and I’ve ridden it for about 2000 km in the last 3 years and 3 months.

In 2020, I restarted my motorcycle journey after a 10-year hiatus, inspired by the Kawasaki Z900. It was the motorcycle that reignited my passion.

However, I chose not to buy it.

The reason was simple — I didn’t want to invest a hefty amount in a passion that might not be consistent over time.

Buying the Kawasaki Z900 in 2020 wasn’t a value-for-money product for me.

Was I right?

NO!

After some thought, I realised that my hesitation to ride didn’t stem from a decrease in my passion over time.

Instead, it was because the motorcycle wasn’t the Kawasaki Z900.

If I had the Kawasaki Z900 in my garage, my riding experience would have been entirely different — I might have covered at least 20,000 km, till now!

We often evaluate our purchases based on the money spent. This leads us to the -

‘Value For Money’ (VFM) concept.
