“Jab tu baap banega na, tab samajh mein ayega” means “When you’ll become a father, then you will understand”.

I became a father of a beautiful boy on 27th May’2022 and “WOW”- That was the feeling when I first held him in my arms. I realized that he is just like me and the tears didn’t stop, I had never been so emotional in my life till now.

My wife and son

27th May’2022

My wife woke me up at 4 in the morning and she was feeling some pain. We didn’t realize that it was labor and went to the doctor by 8:30 am as we were thinking that it might be false labor. Our doctor told that my wife is dilated well and delivery will happen in next 3–4 hours(this was told to me at 10:30 am). I calculated that baby will come by 1:30–2:30 pm.

I had to come home for some important things to pick and looking at the timelines, I was confident enough to reach back to the hospital well in time.

Meanwhile, my mother was in the hospital. It was 11:30 am when my mother called and said that delivery can happen anytime now, come fast. A different level of urgency ran into my mind and I rushed toward the hospital. I drove my favorite car like mad and managed to reach by 11:56 am. 11:58 am, he was born! He came early, and yes he doesn’t have patience.

Learnings that I got from this phase (Pregnancy to fatherhood):

  1. Support your wife!
  2. Have patience, be happy, and have body language that shows this!
  3. Learn to google well!

Support your wife!

Well, a vice man once said- “Key to happiness in life: learn how to pamper your better halves!”

After seeing the whole childbirth lifecycle, from being pregnant to giving birth- I can understand now why women should be treated with utmost priority. The times from pregnancy to postpartum is a mixture of emotions for a woman: I am happy- I am pregnant, I am feeling too lonely, I am still hungry, I will puke, pamper me, I am angry- go away, Why am I not looking like pregnant, you won’t love me once the baby comes out, and there…
